Before you start, take you're quad for a spin, find good traction and try to pop a wheelie. Grass is perfect for most kinds of tires. It will give you a base for comparison. You don't really have to do this because you will know the difference. It's just fun to compare.

  1. Remove Seat.

  2. Locate the biggest black box just in front of the little storage box. Thats the CDI. The 2002 has 2 connectors and the 2003 and up has 3 connectors to it.

    2003 and up CDI

  3. Locate this harness and strip the black tape grouping those wires.

  4. Now locate the pink wire (pink/white for Arctic Cat) and cut it where finger is with a pair of side cutters.

  5. Here is the pinout of the module. Applies to all.

KunyTec Holeshot Module Kawasaki Arctic Cat
    RED (+12V) Gray Orange/White
GREEN (CDI signal) Pink wire to the CDI Pink/White to the CDI
YELLOW (Speed sensor) Pink wire away from CDI Pink/White away from CDI
    BLACK (Gnd) Black/Yellow Black

    ***CAUTION KAWI Owners***
There is also a Yellow/Black wire. Do not use that wire. Black from module goes to Black/Yellow stripe ONLY. It could be on an other connector on the CDI depending on the year of bike. Damage can result if improperly hooked up.

  6. Cut only pink or pink/white. For +12V and Gnd, just remove a little bit of insulation and wrap wire around and solder in place. Solder all connections. Use Shrink wrap where applicable or you can use liquid electrical tape and electrical tape. Just electrical tape is fine too.

  7. Turn Ignition ON without starting, 1 sec later the LED should come on. That will indicate that the program is running. Start the engine and rev to engage clutches, red or green LED should blink telling you that it is sensing speed (wheels must be turning). This is a very good sign that everything is working.

  8. Wrap everything up nice and clean. There will be room right where indicated in no.7 to secure the module with tie raps.

  9. This is the most important step of all. Read carefully...

ENJOY!!!
